A celebration of North East culture, heritage and art
The Culture Awards celebrate and showcase the cultural infrastructure and diversity of our fantastic region - from the Tees Valley to the Scottish Borders.
Culture in the North East is thriving and the Awards are a great demonstration that talent truly abounds in our region. It is a delight to be celebrating the people behind this talent and their considerable achievements. We have a lot of great art and culture to be proud of and with the Culture Awards now into their sixteenth year, the scene shows no signs of slowing.
The awards ceremony brings together the North East's arts, heritage and cultural sectors with live performances and artistic showcases from some of the region's top talents in music, art, dance and comedy.
The awards are open to anyone who has made an impact or a significant contribution to the North East cultural landscape in the period from August 2022 to October 2023. There are a wide range of categories and anyone can nominate an individual, organisation, event, exhibition etc for consideration - but be sure to get your nominations in before the deadline of 5pm on Monday 16 October 2023.
All the finalists will be invited to the special celebration evening taking place on Wednesday 13 December at The Fire Station in Sunderland.
Congratulations on such a smooth running and positive event!
We had a brilliant time on Thursday night – thank you, Helen and the team for making it happen. Congratulations and thanks again for organising such a timely and well-staged event.
Thank you for organising such a brilliant event. It was great to see so much talent in the room.
This is an important moment and it certainly felt that way from the reception in Durham Cathedral which was incredibly warm and rousing. I felt part of a bigger community than the Disability arts community, I felt part of the arts community of the North East. That moment will be with me forever.
A great celebration of North East culture and creativity
