About the awards

The North East Culture Awards are an annual celebration of the thriving arts and cultural scene in the North East of England and are organised by Reach plc - the UK and Ireland's largest news publisher - publishing The Journal, The Chronicle, The Gazette and website's ChronicleLive and TeessideLive in the North East region.

Our headline partners for 2023 are Sunderland City Council and University of Sunderland, who have been long-standing supporters of the awards.

There are a wide range of categories - covering visual artists, performers, writers, events, exhibitions, international collaborations and more!
