About the awards


The North East Culture Awards are an annual celebration of the thriving arts and cultural scene in the North East of England and are organised by Reach plc - the UK and Ireland's largest news publisher - publishing The Journal, The Chronicle, The Gazette and website's ChronicleLive and TeessideLive in the North East region. 

Our headline partner for 2025 is Tees Valley Combined Authority, who have supported the awards for a number of years.

There are a wide range of categories - covering visual artists, performers, writers, events, exhibitions, international collaborations and more!  



The Awards Evening


Date: Thursday 27 November 2025

Venue: Stockton Globe Theatre, Stockton-on-Tees TS18 1PL

Times: 6.15pm doors open, 11pm close

Dress code: Smart / casual

Host: Chris Connel


Refreshments: An arrival drink (1 glass of white/red wine or a soft drink per person) and a selection of canapes will be served on arrival, plus an additional drink at the interval (again, 1 glass of white/red wine or a soft drink per person). The Globe's bar will be open for the service of additional drinks and snacks.

Please note:

  • The venue operate a cashless bar so all payments will need to be made by card
  • This is not a 'sit-down dinner' event so we advise guests to eat something more substantial before they come. The Globe will have ice cream and snacks available to purchase on the night however.


Tickets:  There are no physical tickets issued in advance for this event. Guests will need to give their name on arrival and will then be issued their drinks vouchers and ticket, advising of their seating location in the auditorium. It is therefore vital that we have everyone's names, so if there are any late changes please email the details through to dawn@hold-events.co.uk or lesley@hold-events.co.uk.


Access requirements: We are keen to meet the needs of all our audience members who require additional support, including the welfare of any assistance dogs. The Globe has wheelchair accessible seats and an assisted listening system in the auditorium. There will be BSL interpreters present throughout the formal proceedings too. Please ensure any access requirements are highlighted to the event managers in advance by emailing dawn@hold-events.co.uk or lesley@hold-events.co.uk.

Getting to Stockton Globe Theatre

ARRIVING BY CAR

‍Stockton Globe Theatre is close to the A19 and A66 and is easily accessible by car. There are several public car parks located within a 10-minute walking distance of the venue including Wellington Square, Riverside and Bishop Street car parks. Wellington Square car park is open late to accommodate visitors and is completely free. Normal charges will apply during shopping centre opening hours. On return to your vehicle, the pay machines will be out of service and the exit barriers will be raised for ease of exit.

For customers requiring blue badge parking, there is blue badge parking on Church Road and The Square opposite the venue. There is also blue badge parking in Wellington Square car park and Bath Lane North car park, both have step free routes to the venue.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

‍If arriving by train, Stockton train station is 0.3 miles away and is walkable in 6 minutes. Thornaby train station is located 1.5 miles from the venue and is a 20-minute walk or a 5-minute drive. ‍

Stockton Globe Theatre is well-situated on the high street for easy access to local bus routes. Bus numbers 7, 7A, 15, 17A, 36, 37, 38, 52 and 58 arrive and depart from stops within a minute walk of the venue along with other services for the wider Teesside area. The X10 bus also departs and arrives hourly from the high street with destinations including Newcastle, Gateshead and Peterlee. ‍ 


TAXIS

There are a number of taxi ranks located around Stockton Globe Theatre. The taxi rank closest to theatre is located on Church Road at the side of the church. There are also other taxi ranks located around the town centre with a 9 car rank being located at the south side of the high street, a 3 car rank located outside of the Royal Oak on the service road and another taxi rank located outside Iceland in Wellington Square. WALKING AND CYCLING

Customers wanting to travel using more sustainable transport methods to attend the awards may wish to walk or cycle. The Hub operated by Sustrans is located 60 metres from Stockton Globe's front door and offers secure day time bike parking from 8.30am to 5.30pm. The Hub can also advise on safer walking and cycling routes to the venue. Unfortunately we are unable to offer bike storage to our guests.
